When we think of Hugh Jackman and his famous character, “The Wolverine,” it’s safe to say that laughing is not the first thing that comes to mind!
This Australian actor has won over many adorers because of his awesome film work in the “Wolverine” and “X-Men” series, “Van Helsing,” “Les Miserables,” “The Greatest Showman,” etc. This actor has kept us in suspense and on the edge of our seats through many a movie minute! But, there is one thing this generous actor has not kept us in limbo about, and that is his propensity for charity work!
Jackman, a journalism major, has often lent his voice and finances to help various charities; but he went a step further when he started his “Laughing Man Foundation.”
The Laughing Man Foundation is a marketplace for farmers in developing countries around the world. The foundation works with farmers to secure their coffee bean crops and in exchange, the farmers receive a fair market price.
Jackman stated that he was inspired to create Laughing Man Foundation after meeting a young, hardworking father in Ethiopia, and soon realized that the coffee farmer and he were very similar in the things that they wanted, which included providing a good life for their respective families.
Laughing Man Foundation strives to give farmers fair market price for their coffee beans.
It is a foundation platform that seemingly works for everyone. The farmers receive fair compensation for their coffee bean product, and the product is then sold in various American retail stores like, Target, Kohl’s, Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond and Ebay.
After the farmers are paid, 100% of the remaining profits go back into the Laughing Man Foundation, which helps it continue to support community development in poverty-stricken countries. It also provides educational programs to teach people how to achieve goals, and encourages and supports social entrepreneurs worldwide.
